Alex’s passion for technology began when his father arranged to have him see the inner workings of an ATM at the age of 4. (He’s been hooked ever since.)
Alex had an early-age fascination with vacuum cleaners, and as a child could often be found in the appliances section of the local department store, just gazing at their beauty. (He generally avoids using them, however.)
Alex believes in the open web, the read-write web, the dynamic web, designing with web standards, and a host of other buzzwords that reflect incredible possibilities (and unfortunately lose their meaning the more people hear them).
Alex is grateful for the efforts being made to improve global tiger populations, but thinks more could still be done (and wishes he could do more himself for it too).
Alex considers himself more of a web standards implementer than a designer per se, although has been known to tinker with pretty pictures, fonts and colours from time to time.
Alex is low in sugar and high in caffeine.
Alex likes presenting people with simple, efficient results to their problems—although doing so is often complex underneath. (Iceberg = tiny visible tip + massive unseen submerged chunk.)
Alex often talks in third person. (Well, not often. Actually, this is about the first time ever.)
Alex is passionate about good music, whatever the genre (except country obviously), and Australian artists in particular (except Australian Idol obviously).
Alex cares about the careful balancing of content and presentation. (Glitz and glamour is nothing without style and substance—and often vice versa.)
Alex’s wife is hot, and he can’t believe how lucky in love he is. (You’re allowed to agree—but that’s all!)
Alex wrote this on his Mac, so you know he has immaculate taste. ;-) Alex doesn’t write much, but he’s working on that.
Alex has a tendency to spend more time thinking than doing. (Alex finds this approach often means less time is spent going back later and fixing.)
Alex thinks the culture (and shopping!) in Melbourne is infused with an incredible sense of style.
Alex is as young as he thinks he is—maybe even moreso.
